Double boost for Carlton Main

Yorkshire champion Carlton Main Frickley gain a double boost ahead of their Symphony Hall challenge.

Carlton Main

Ahead of their British Open challenge at Symphony Hall, Yorkshire Area champion Carlton Main Frickley Colliery has announced the signings of Andrew Hill on second cornet and Anna Wilby on percussion.

Rep and percussion

Andrew joins from Hatfield Colliery where he played for many years on repiano and 'bumper-up', before a successful spell with Cranbrook Town as principal cornet. Last year he returned to Yorkshire and joined re-joined Hatfield before this latest move.

Meanwhile, Anna has recently moved back to the UK after living and working in Hong Kong.

Her past playing record boasts a number of top flight bands including YBS, Sellers and Rothwell Temperance, and she now joins the Frickley percussion team where she hopes her experience will help the band to future success — starting at the British Open.

Andrew is a fine addition to our team whilst Anna played for me a number of years ago at Sellers International Band and is a musician of enormous talent and versatilityMD, Philip McCann

Great pleasure

Carlton Main MD Phillip McCann told 4BR: "It's a great pleasure to welcome Andrew and Anna to the band.

Andrew is a fine addition to our team whilst Anna played for me a number of years ago at Sellers International Band and is a musician of enormous talent and versatility.

As a band, we are extremely happy to secure her talent but equally as important, as a person with great banding ethics."
