Exmouth draws bands from all south west points

4BR has been informed that the forthcoming 16th Exmouth Brass Band Festival, promoted and organised by the South West Brass Band Association, has attracted competing bands from Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.

Each band will compete in the Exmouth Pavilion for the 'Exmouth Town Council Challenge Trophy' by presenting a 25-minute programme of own-choice music. The adjudicator is Alan Fernie.

Competing bands

The competing bands in order of the pre-draw are: Bideford Town; Appledore; Newquay; Phoenix Brass (Crewkerne); Camelford Town; Indian Queen's; Wincanton Silver; Weston Brass; Pendennis Brass Falmouth; Sidmouth Town; South Molton Town.

Throughout the day the same bands will also entertain the public with half an hour concerts in the adjacent Pavilion Gardens.

It will all kick off at 10.30am, concluding with the results and presentation ceremony at around 6.30pm.

Indebted

Association Secretary Brian Elliott told 4BR: "The Association is greatly indebted to the Exmouth Town Council and Trevada Music for their generous support and to Leisure East Devon and management of The Pavilion for their logistical assistance in promoting the Festival."

Tickets to the Entertainment Contest are priced at £8 (concessions £6) available on the day.

Tintwistle Band
