The pre-draw has been made for the Dr Martin Wainstones Cup Contest — one of the most lucrative competitions in the UK banding calendar.
Yarm School
The event will take place on Sunday 13th September at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium at the award winning Yarm School (above), Stockton-on-Tees (TS15 9EJ) with the first of the 11 competitors taking to the stage at 11.00am.
The year's contest will be adjudicated by John Doyle, with the winning band taking away with them a first prize of £4,000.
Prize fund
Competing bands must provide a programme set that includes an own-choice test piece, contest march and featured soloist if they are to claim a part of the £8,000 prize fund on offer.
Reigning champion Reg Vardy returns to defend its title against a line-up that includes bands from the North of England, Yorkshire, North West and the Midlands.

The competing bands in alphabetical order are: Easington Colliery; EYMS; Fishburn; Marsden Silver; Rainford; Reg Vardy; Staffordshire; Thoresby Colliery; Wingates; Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel; York Railway Institute.
