Little miners add extra entertainment

The award winning Rhondda Fach Youth Band will add an extra touch of entertainment to the forthcoming Miners' Welfare Entertainment contest.

The 2015 Miners' Welfare Entertainment Contest, which will take place at the superbly refurbished art-deco auditorium of Newbridge Memorial Hall on September 12th has announced that the pre-results entertainment will be provided by the award winning Rhondda Fach Youth Band.

Challenge Cup

The inclusion of the band will round off a fine day of brass band entertainment before the winners of magnificent South Wales Miners Challenge Cup and £600 first prize is announced.

The event will see Ammanford, Cinderford, Crosskeys, Crwbin, Cwmtawe Youth, Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Melingriffith 2 (above), Swindon Pegasus, Upper Rhondda and Ynyshir seek to gain the nod adjudicator John Winterflood.

Prizes

In addition to taking home the splendid Challenge Cup valued at over £6,000 (above), the generous prize fund will also see awards made to the 'Most Entertaining Band' as well as to the 'Best Third and Best Fourth Section' Bands and individual trophies.

The winning band will also gain an invitation to take part in the 2016 Welsh Open Entertainment event.

Tickets

The contest starts at 12 noon with tickets priced at £5 stalls unreserved, £6 balcony reserved.
