After a solid week on the road, Grimethorpe thoroughly enjoyed their much needed day off in Sydney.
Many of the players visited the sites; ascending to the top of the famous Sydney Tower and Harbour Bridge landmarks as well as having a look inside the iconic Opera House and SCG cricket ground.
Inclined
Others though were inclined to be inclined so to speak — and spent their time at Manly Beach, taking the 30 minute ferry cruise out from the Opera House terminal.
They also relaxed with a fine steak lunch and a few beers at the Manly Bavarian bar before rounding things off with a delicious pork knuckle supper.
Following that it was the ferry home and then (somewhat astoundingly!) pretty much an early night after a memorable day out in a wonderful city.
Back to the airport
The following morning the band headed back to the airport for the short (by Australian standards anyway) hour and a half flight to Melbourne to prepare for a performance at the magnificent Hamer Hall (above).
Located on the Victoria Southbank, it is the largest hall in a quite incredible Arts Centre complex and recently benefitted from a multi-million dollar re-development.
With the obligatory call for more encores than Dame Nelly Melba could have managed in her prime, there was just enough time left for a few hours of extra relaxation in the bar4BR
Dame Nelly Melba
It was packed for the band, who really produced a 'ripper' as the locals would say under Dr Robert Childs.
With the obligatory call for more encores than Dame Nelly Melba could have managed in her prime, there was just enough time left for a few hours of extra relaxation in the bar taking to a legion of fans, more than happy to buy the players a few tinnies!
