Evans accepts Presidential nomination

It will be 'All hail the Chief' at Leyland from now on as Richard Evans accepts the keys to the Presidential office...

The Leyland Band has announced that Richard Evans has accepted the invitation to become its new President.

Unanimous

He takes over the role from Allan Littlemore, who recently stepped down after many years of outstanding service and commitment, with the band voting unanimously to approach Richard and ask him to fill the important role.

Greatest

John Doyle told 4BR: "Richard Evans is one of the brass band movement's greatest musicians and entertainers and enjoys friendships all over the musical world.

He is a regular visitor to the band and continues to offer advice, guidance and leadership to us. He also has great links with our own North West Youth Brass Band. We are delighted that he has accepted the position of President."

Pleasure and pride

Richard himself added: "It is with great pleasure and pride that I accept the position of President of Leyland Band.

The term 'full circle' certainly applies here as it was some 63 years ago I became a playing member of this wonderful band.

From 1978 to 2000 I was Musical Director and now, as President, I will do all in my power to maintain the high standards this great band holds dear."

Looking forward

Current MD Thomas Wyss, added: "I have known Richard for many years and admired his wonderful career and dedication to the Leyland Band. I'm very much looking forward to collaborating with him on various initiatives."
