Butlins release musical entertainment details

There are plenty of musical attractions to enjoy at the Butlins Mineworkers Festival in January.

Butlins

The Butlins Mineworkers Festival has announced the first details of the entertainment that will be on offer for brass band lovers at the Skegness Resort over the weekend of 15th-18th January next year.

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We plan to deliver the most spectacular weekend of competition and entertainment to date."

Test pieces

The 2016 festival will see competitors tackle a trio of test pieces from the pen of Paul Lovatt-Cooper, as well as works from Ian McElligott and Bruce Fraser. There will also be concert performances from The Wallace Collection, Trombone Quorum, Grimethorpe Re-union Band and the reigning Butlins Champions, Flowers.

The spokesperson added: "All five sections compete on Saturday 16th and we are sure the players and audiences will enjoy 'Breath of Souls', 'Fire in the Blood' and 'Platform to the Heavens' in the top, Second and Third Sections respectively, alongside Ian's 'A Celt in Jerusalem' in the First Section and Bruce's 'The Seafarers' in the Fourth."

Guest facilities

Sunday will see the Championship bands provide their own entertainment programmes as they look to claim the massive £10,000 first prize, although alongside the musical attractions guests will also be able to relax in the fantastic Water World and the Spa facilities.

Further evening entertainment comes from the Soul Tubes, The Amazing Blues Brothers and the ever popular Jaeger Maestros Oompah Band

Day tickets

Band supporters are informed that due to limited venue capacity for the Entertainment Competition, no day visit tickets will be issued for Sunday 17th, with access only for guests choosing to stay on the Skegness Resort.

Day visit tickets are available for Saturday 16th priced at £24 per adult, £16 per child 2-14, with under 2's free.

All competitors who are not resident must purchase a day visit ticket to gain entry to the Resort on Saturday 16th.
