The talented young players of Coleshill Beginner Brass have just thrilled a packed audience at Symphony Hall, Birmingham as part of the National Festival of Music for Youth.
Hard work
Months of hard work in rehearsals was finally put to the test as the young band under MD Sally Fagg performed their 15-minute set entitled 'Music from the Wild West' — which included pieces such as 'Hoe Down', 'Dances with Wolves', 'Wagon Trail' and 'Hymn to the Great Spirit' from 'Indian Summer' by Eric Ball.
Not fazed
The young musicians, ranging from 6 — 14 years of age were certainly not fazed by the bright lights or the large audience numbers that greeted them as they set foot on a stage that has hosted some of the world greatest orchestras and brass bands.

Great time
A spokesperson told 4BR: "We had a great time. We were by far the youngest band during the morning session, which comprised solely of young brass bands, with much older and more established bands also showing their talents."
At the conclusion of the event two of the Music for Youth mentors commended Beginner Brass on their style and maturity of music-making and also rewarded them with a wonderful prize of a day of music-making and a masterclass from the Royal Marines Band, based in Portsmouth.
