Top brass band musicians from around the country came together in concert last weekend at Castleford Salvation Army to raise money for the Clarence Adoo Trust.

'Northern Highlights 2015' featured tenor horn virtuoso Owen Farr and vocalist Stephanie Lamplough alongside the Clarence Adoo Brass Ensemble conducted by Howard J. Evans and the Castleford Salvation Army Songsters under the direction of Martyn Beecham.
The Clarence Adoo Ensemble was made up of players from bands including Brighouse & Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, Flowers and Enfield Citadel.
Clarence Adoo (above) was one of the country's top trumpeters before being paralysed from the shoulders down in a car accident in 1995, aged 35. The Clarence Adoo Trust was set up to enable Clarence to purchase specialised equipment necessary for him to retain an active and independent life.
Active
Today, Clarence remains extremely active in the world of music. He has retained a role with the Royal Northern Sinfonia as Education Animateur and visits schools, colleges and adult groups in the north of England to lead music workshops or discussions on music and composers. He has been selected on several occasions for the panel of BBC Young Musician of the Year.
