Brass in the Bandstand
The event is the headline act of the Shirebrook Town Music Festival which takes place over the weekend.
On Sunday 12th July, the Town Council is staging their first 'Brass in the Bandstand' entertainment contest at Shirebrook Town Park next to the Shirebrook Leisure Centre (although in case of inclement weather the event will take place inside the Leisure Centre itself).
The free event will also have an outside bar and catering, with the Leisure Centre bar also open for those wishing to enjoy a drink inside.
Eight bands
The entertainment contest commences at midday with the first of eight competing bands hoping to catch the ear of adjudicator Glyn Williams.
If they do they can capture a share of the generous prize fund, which sees £750 going to the winner, with podium prizes of £400 and £200 and an additional 'Most Entertaining Third/ Fourth Section Band' award of £200.
Line up
The line up sees Dinnington Colliery, Shirebrook Miners Welfare Unison, Unite the Union (City of Sheffield), Market Rasen Res Dev, South Yorkshire Police, Ireland Colliery, Enderby and Rolls Royce Derby each perform a 30 minute entertainment programme.
So why not come along and support the Shirebrook Festival on the 11th and 12th July for what will be an exciting weekend of music making and entertainment.
