Plans are well under way for the forthcoming Foden's Solo Contest, the largest of its kind in the UK, which will be held in Sandbach on the 31st October.
Prizes
As well as the usual generous array of prizes and bursaries, former Foden's euphonium star Glyn Williams will provide a trophy for the 'Most Outstanding Euphonium Player' of the day.
Meanwhile, euphonium legend Lyndon Baglin (above) will have a trophy presented in his name for the winner of the new 'Vintage' Slow Melody class.
Dragon winner
In 2014, Daniel Thomas, the winner of the 17-19 Slow Melody class had a piece composed for him by Lee Morris — and it is now ready for Dan to perform.
Lee told 4BR: "'Descendant's of the Dragon' is a three movement work that starts in the tranquil gardens of the far-East, and moves through a shot section to a great battle.
The finale builds on the main theme with some virtuosic playing from soloist and band, before coming to a thumping close. I'm sure Dan and his audience will enjoy it!"
