Report & Result: 2015 City of Coventry & Warwickshire Brass Festival

Lots of great playing on show at Bablake School as Paul Bennett flowers to overall champion victory.

The 6th Annual Brass Festival took place at Bablake School as part of the highly successful City of Coventry & Warwickshire Brass Festival.

Stewarding was provided by the Jaguar Land Rover Band and the adjudicators were Stephen Cooper, Dave Lea and Paul White.

Top performers

Players from Shipston Town and Bilton Silver figured large in the results, although the overall champion was Paul Bennett, the well known tenor horn star who has just signed for the Flowers Band.

He took the honours in the Open Slow Melody and Sight Reading categories, whilst Luke Barker of the Shipston won the 'Best Instrumentalist 14 & Under' Award after claiming victory in the 11 to 14 Slow Melody, Junior Sight Reading and 14 & Under Duets (alongside Grace Coates).

Chinnor Silver

November 25 • You need to be quick, we are almost full but just require Eb bass and percussion. We are a friendly, welcoming and ambitious band and start 2025 at the top of our second section ranking table. We rehearse on a Wed evening in our own bandroom in Chinnor.


Hathersage Band

November 25 • Hathersage Brass Band is a thriving community band. We enjoy making music and have a good gig schedule. An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join our Principal Cornet Ed as co-principal. Are you up for the challenge? This is our only vacancy.


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

November 23 • Bb Cornet, Euphonium, Eb Bass and Percussion required to complete the line-up.. Under the Direction of Duncan Beckley, the band is keen to fill these few remaining seats.
