Worldwide coverage for Bolsover Festival

An innovative new arts partnership will see the Bolsover Festival of Brass beamed all over the world for free later this year...

Bolsover

4BR understands that an innovative partnership between Bolsover District Council and the Arts Council of England's 'First Art' project in the Bolsover, North East Derbyshire, Ashfield and Mansfield areas, will see the 2015 Bolsover Festival of Brass Entertainment Championship gain worldwide live internet coverage.

Project

'First Art' is a project funded through the Arts Council England's 'Creative People and Places' funding and is led by a consortium within the areas including Creswell Heritage Trust, Junction Arts, Nottingham City Arts, the Princes Trust and local authorities.

The project has been brought to fruition through work led by Bolsover District Council and its Arts Development Officer, Carole Hirst, who secured a £1.5 million investment to spend over 3 years linked to a 10 year legacy for various arts led projects — with brass banding a prominent feature.

New audiences

Carole told 4BR: "It's the Festival's 10th anniversary this year and to celebrate this and to fulfil a target of the Arts Council England funding, we decided to explore worldwide live internet coverage.

It will open the Festival and its brass bands to new audiences all over the world."

Bolsover to Brisbane

Carole added: "We see this as the way forward for our high profile events, and if it proves successful we will roll it out across other Festival contests in coming years.

We will also be providing multi media coverage at the event itself — so we will make sure no one will miss out on the entertainment wherever they are — from a bar in Bolsover to a BBQ brass band party in Brisbane."

Free and live

4BR understands that the Bolsover Festival of Brass will broadcast free live coverage of the Championship and First Section contests throughout the day through the 'First Art' website, with a production that will cover not just the playing of the bands, but also interviews, opinions and interactive features.

A further detailed announcement will be made in the next week.
