As part of 'Taunton Live 2015' — a week-long arts festival in Somerset, John Packer Ltd is welcoming Roger Argente from the world famous 'Superbrass' ensemble to lead a special Brass Day on Saturday 18th July.

Iconic

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra trombonist is regarded as one of the world's finest exponents of the instrument and has played under the likes of Ashkenazy, Previn and Rostropovich, recorded film scores with John Williams and Hans Zimmer and can be heard on some of the most iconic films of recent years such as 'Gladiator', 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings'.

Superbrass workshop

He's also had heavily involved with National Youth Orchestras and brass bands and in this unique 'Superbrass workshop' he will direct lucky musicians through their paces playing selected Superbrass repertoire.

The day will also see the world exclusive of 'Riff Off' — a new composition by Chris Wilcox.

Rare opportunity

A John Packer spokesperson told 4BR: "This unique workshop gives musicians of all ages a rare opportunity to work one of the world's finest brass musicians and also the chance to learn and play with other like-minded people.

Roger will also be answering questions and giving advice on how to arrange, compose and play music. Spectators are welcome free of charge as well!"

Come along

The workshop is suitable for advanced trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba & percussion players.

Time: 10.00am — 1.00pm or 2.00pm — 5.00pm.

Tickets cost £12, or book both sessions for £20.
