Brighouse set to welcome visitors from both sides of the pond

The forthcoming Brighouse Lions Festival will offer a warm welcome and plenty of great music making for visitors from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

26 competitors, including the Lake Wobegon® Brass Band from Minnesota, USA are set to entertain the crowds at the forthcoming Brighouse Lions Festival.

Beer & Brass

The event takes place over the weekend of the 3rd/4th/5th July and gets off to a lively start on Friday evening with a 'Beer & Brass' evening featuring Kirklees Music Brass, with a programme of popular music.

The Saturday evening gala concert will feature the welcome American visitors alongside National Youth champion Elland Silver, who will be presenting their successful programme from the Action Research Championships.

Features

Amongst the musical features will be composer Philip Wilby will be perform alongside the bands in special brass and organ items.

The weekend is rounded off with the popular contest on Sunday in Thornton Square, where bands of all standards from Championship to Youth march off at 1.00pm4BR

This year MC Graham Ward will keep the crowds informed and the non-stop flow of the event is one of the strong features which make the Brighouse contest such an attractive day out .

Adjudicators this year are AoBBA members Gordon Higginbottom, David Hirst and David Ashworth.

Linthwaite Band

March 18 • We are a friendly 4th section contesting Band based on the outskirts of Huddersfield, with a busy schedule coming up over the year, and to help complete the Band we have a vacancy for a 2nd cornet player, and are keen to fill the position.


Lofthouse2000 Brass Band

March 18 • Lofthouse 2000 based near Wakefield are currently recruiting the following seats; Eb Bass, Bb Bass, Front Row Cornet, 2nd Cornet, Bass Trombone & Kit. Rehearsals are Monday and Thursday 19.30-21.30 at Belle Isle WMC Leeds. We look forward to seeing you!


Chinnor Silver

March 17 • What a day, 2nd place in our regional contest, qualification for the National Finals and promotion to the 1st Section. However we need basses( Bb or Eb) and percussionists to join us on our exciting journey. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in Chinnor.
