There us a record entry of 17 bands taking part in the forthcoming Durham Light Infantry Museum open air contest on Sunday July 5th.
The Durham City venue means that the contest is starting earlier than usual at 9.30am, and is anticipated to end t around 5.30pm.
The organisers have provided percussion for all bands to help them in their 20 minute programmes, which must include a march and soloist.
The contest is supported by the Durham International Brass Festival.
