The City of Bradford Band gained its first Championship Section test piece title at the Holme Valley Contest on the weekend.

Bradford Tallis

Led by Lee Skipsey, a well constructed reprise performance of the Senior Trophy set work, 'Tallis Variations' caught the ear of adjudicator Mike Kilroy to give the Yorkshire outfit victory over rivals Hade Edge, who performed 'Of Distant Memories', with Strata Brass in third.

Stalybridge Labour

In the Section B event, David Ashworth once again drew a contest winning performance from the score of Percy Fletcher's classic 'Labour & Love' to give the rejuvenated Stalybridge Old victory over rivals Deepcar and Slaithwaite.

In the hymn tune disciplines there was success for Meltham & Meltham Mills and Slaithwaite, whilst in the Section C event victory went to Hope Bank Youth over their Hope Bank Junior counterparts.
