Oxford Cherwell Brass has announced the death of their well respected cornet player, Graham Ruecroft.

Graham was tragically hit by a car while cycling home from work on Thursday evening, and died on Tuesday 9th June at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

National finalist

Originally from the North East, Graham was a member of Fishburn Band during the late 1970's and early 1980's, twice appearing with them at the National finals at the Royal Albert Hall.

Following a break from banding and relocation with work to Oxfordshire, Graham enjoyed spells with Cholsey Silver and Chalgrove Bands before helping to set up Oxford Cherwell Brass in 2013.

Close friend

Band Manager Steve Clapton paid tribute to Graham. "He was a close friend to many, a dedicated musician and bandsman, and a well respected intellect within his professional field of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and fine chemicals. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him."
