Jack Capstaff has been appointed the new Musical Director of Foresters Brass 2000.
Excited
Band Chairperson, Helen Parker-Bates, told 4BR: "We are hugely excited to have Jack with us and his musical talent was obvious from the moment he lifted the baton.
Foresters have a great tradition of nurturing up and coming talent and in Jack we saw something really special."
Delighted
The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama student (above) has worked with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery both as a player and composer — with the Yorkshire Area champion commissioning his work for the 20th anniversary of their pit closure.
Jack told 4BR: "I'm delighted with the appointment. We have already set ourselves some ambitious goals and I look forward to shaping the next stage in the band's future."
Jack's first outing with Foresters Brass 2000 will be a forthcoming church service and concert at the start of their sponsors' annual conference in Southport.

New players
The band also welcomes three new players to the ranks. The experienced Kieren Williams joins on solo horn, with Julie Taylor comings in on second cornet and James Kerfoot on BBb bass.
Helen Parker-Bates, added: "We are pleased to have attracted these three excellent musicians who are already helping to strengthen the band."
