Players dressed as a variety of popular superheroes more than did their bit on Whit Friday to raise funds for the 'Help for Heroes' Charity.
Cross County Brass was formed for the event by players from Manchester, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Kent and all stops in-between by Adam Whittle (aka Superman — above), with the simple intention of having a great time whilst raising funds for the charity along the way.
Hero theme
The 'Hero' theme was therefore a natural choice Adam told 4BR — although some inventive thinking ensured that as well as fancy dress nurses and fireman there was also a fair old Marvel inspired sprinkling of various Hercules, Super Mario and Incredible Hulks — including Adam dressed quite fetchingly as Superman.
Brilliant march tune
He told 4BR: "It was clear that we need to make an impression, so first of all we needed a theme tune. Mike Kilmartin kindly stepped forward and arranged a special 'Jaws? No! It's Superman!' march, which proved to be brilliant at getting everyone going!"

Thanks
He added: "We were led down the streets by a banner showing our cause and we managed to collect over £900.00 for 'Help for Heroes' on our seven Saddleworth venue visits.
My thanks go to all those who helped to make this a success, and especially to the people who have so generously to help a wonderful charity. I think this could become a permanent Whit Friday fixture from now on."
