Funeral details for Fred Croft

The funeral details of the respected former Hanwell soprano cornet player Fred Croft have been announced.

4BR has been informed that the funeral of the former Hanwell soprano player Fred Croft will be held at 2.00pm on 5th June at Penmount Crematorium in Truro.

Sop star

Fred, who died aged 67, joined Hanwell in the early 1970's from Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. He also formed a popular ten piece group within the band using mostly his own arrangements and set up Pro-Brass in Kentish Town.

A group from Hanwell lead by the then MD Bram Tovey, played at the wedding of Maggie and Fred.

The family has requested no flower tributes but they would like to collect money for a youth band. If people would like to donate any money then please contact Alf at Ken Newcombe, Bucklers Lane, St Austell, PL25 or 0172663220.
