Hatfield Area appeal rejected

An independent panel rejects Hatfield's appeal against their disqualification from 2015 Yorkshire Regional contest.

Hatfield

The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain have released a statement that confirms the decision of an independent appeals panel to uphold their disqualification from the 2015 Yorkshire Regional Championship contest.

The statement reads:

"Hatfield Brass Band has appealed to Kapitol Promotions Ltd to overturn the decision by the Contest Controller of the Yorkshire Region to disqualify the band following the Regional Contest held in Bradford on 7th March 2015.

This is the second appeal by Hatfield to overturn this decision, the first having been rejected by the Yorkshire Regional Committee at a hearing held on 21st March 2015

The second appeal was heard at Doncaster University Centre on 21st May 2015 by an independent panel in the presence of representatives of Hatfield Brass Band, Yorkshire Regional Committee and BBP Registry.

The Appeal Panel found that Hatfield Brass Band had played an unregistered player at the Regional Contest on 7th March 2015 which was in breach of the National Rules and that the Contest Controller of the Yorkshire Region had no option but to disqualify the band in accordance with these rules.

The Appeal Panel therefore rejected the appeal by Hatfield Brass Band.

A full judgement has been issued to all parties."
