Ysgol Bontnewydd Primary School Band has won first prize in the youth ensemble section at the Urdd National Eisteddfod being held near Caerphilly — the third time in a row the band has won the prestigious title.

Television coverage

The youth festival attracts competitors from all over Wales, as well as over 70,000 visitors, and is broadcast live each day on the S4C television channel.

Under the direction of conductor Dylan Williams, the former National Youth Champion competed against 14 other ensembles, each of who had qualified for the event in regional competitions earlier in the year.
