Coleshill Beginner Brass, which is made up of local youngsters between age 7 and 11 will perform at the National Festival of Music for Youth in July.
The band was chosen to take part in the Birmingham festival after their excellent regional performance was highly commended — including a wonderful comment about their stylish 'queens lift'; the art of lifting their instrument smartly before playing.
Thrilled
The band is conducted by Coleshill Primary School teacher, Sally Fagg, who was delighted when the invitation to perform at the national festival arrived:
"I was absolutely thrilled,"Sally told 4BR. "This is testament to the hard work of all the youngsters, and their dedication. It's fantastic that the resulting music-making has been recognised as outstanding at national level."

Next stop
Coleshill Beginner Brass was formed in 2009 by Sally, and now there are approximately 20 pre-teen musicians who rehearse under her baton once a week.
They are currently working hard to develop a programme of music for the Symphony Hall event on Friday 10th of July.
