The forthcoming Shirebrook Town Music Festival has announced that its decision to host a 'Brass in the Bandstand' Open Entertainment Contest instead of its proposed March & Hymn Tune contest on Sunday 12th July has been a great success.

New event

The new event has attracted a full line up of 10 bands, which will provide an exciting contest bonus following the concert appearance of Grimethorpe Colliery Band (above) at Shirebrook Leisure Centre the previous evening (7.30pm on 11th July).

Prizes

With a first prize of £750, podium awards of £400, £200 and a 'Most Entertaining Performance' prize of £200, there is also plenty of cash up for grabs too!

The contest will start in Shirebrook Town Park at midday — and with no registration, and free entry open to contesting and non-contesting bands, it is being held to encourage bands to come and enjoy the musical experience of providing a 30 minute entertainment programme.
