4BR has been informed that after six successful years as Musical Director with the Drighlington Band in Yorkshire, Jim Davies has stepped down from the role with immediate effect.
Fantastic moments
A spokesperson told 4BR: "There have been some fantastic moments along the way during six wonderful years, including getting our place back at the Spring Festival, representing Yorkshire at the 2013 National Finals at Cheltenham, and of course winning the Butlins title in 2013, with a performance so fine the composer of the piece invited us to record it."
Better players
They added: "Throughout every performance, Jim's musical direction has shone through and has made us all better players.
For his part, Jim says he's stayed longer as Musical Director with us than with any other band, because he has loved being part of an organisation that's as much a group of great friends as a good band."

Honour
They concluded: "It's been an honour to play for a genuine musical legend, and Jim and his wife Rhiannon, who has been the band's solo horn for the last six years will be leaving us on the very best of terms."
4BR understands that the position will now be advertised.
