Irvine & Dreghorn aim to get on a par with rivals in time for Cheltenham

Never mind the love of music — it will be the golf that drives Irvine & Dreghorn all the way down to Cheltenham later this year...

Some golf mad members of the Irvine & Dreghorn Band will be helping drive their band all the way to the National Finals in Cheltenham later this year with a fund raising scheme that should at least put them on a par with rivals.

All day golf

Colin Stevely, Derek Leitch and Steven Purss will endeavour to play golf all day — and we do mean all day — on the 26th June, when they will tee off on the stroke of dawn at the Irvine Golf Club Bogside in Irvine.

Once they finish the full 18 holes, they will start all over again and will keep going — round by round until there is no more light to play a single shot!

Keep going

Colin Stevely told 4BR: "It's going to be a long day and we're planning to do as many holes as possible.

We'll be starting about 4.00am and will keep going until the sun goes down. Our fellow band members will be helping us throughout by caddying and keeping us fed, watered and generally cheering us on."

Competitions

He added: "We are running two competitions with fabulous prizes to guess the hole we finish at as well as guessing the hole we will lose the bright yellow ball we will be teeing off at 4.00am with!"
