Beer and Brass on the menu in Chesterfield

There will be plenty of great beer and brass band music to enjoy at the Ireland Colliery Chesterfield/Raw Brewery contest in June.

Beer and Brass

Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Band in partnership with the Raw Brewery Company will be running its popular Music & Real Ale weekend from 12th — 14th June.

Bigger venue

The event will take place at Parkside Community School, Boythorpe Mount, Chesterfield (S40 2NS) — a larger venue to enable Raw Brewery to occupy a separate bar area to the main hall concert area, whilst still offering access for listeners who wish to listen to the music.

There will be over 20 Real Ales and ciders on offer and this year's festival is launched with a charity concert by Boobs & Brass who will be performing on Friday evening.

Throughout the Saturday there will be a Solo & Duet Contest and in the evening the host band, Ireland Colliery Chesterfield will present their 'World Tour' of music with a variety of entertaining pieces.

Battle of the bands

The events continue on Sunday 14th with the 9th Annual Battle of the Bands contest — with this year's event promising to be bigger and better with the addition of both a First and Second Section contest alongside the traditional events for Third, Fourth, Unregistered & Training Bands.

Looking forward

Band Chairman Gary Willis told 4BR: "I'm really looking forward to the event. We have listened to feedback from bands and have sourced a larger venue to enable this event to grow and improve.

Bands and players can come enjoy a great weekend of events listening to the contest and concerts or just having a drink in our bar area."
