The European brass band community has been shocked to hear of the death of the highly respected player, conductor and musician Preben Nørgaard Christensen, who passed away in hospital following injuries sustained in a road accident two weeks ago. He was aged 55.

Thoughts

EBBA President and friend, Ulf Rosenberg told 4BR: “This is a huge loss and all our thoughts go to his wife Irene and their children. He will be greatly missed by all his friends in Danish and Norwegain banding, EBBA and the whole European brass band family.”

He added: “Preben was a great musician, a wonderful euphonium player, prize winning conductor, respected adjudicator, as well as being a renowned conductor of Thisted Kirkes Drenge-Mandskor, a world class choir in the church where he worked as a organ player.”
