Fairey Band solo horn star Paul Bennett is currently in the USA enjoying a two week tour appearing as guest soloist in six concerts with Jim Gourlay’s River City Brass in Pittsburgh, along with a further brace of events with Illinois Brass Band.
Thrilled
The 2014 winner of the Besson International Award at the Foden’s Solo Contest told 4BR: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to visit the USA and appear with these fabulous bands, courtesy of the support Besson provides through the Foden’s competition.”
He added: “River City and Illinois are also quite different; with Illinois based on the British tradition of brass band style and repertoire, whilst River City has added their own special twist to create something unique. That makes for a wonderfully varied musical experience.”
