The Enderby Band has announced the signing of a trio of new players (above).
Neil Orton fills the vacant 2nd horn seat, returning to banding after a two year break, whilst Alex Baldwin returns on soprano cornet after helping Enderby at a couple of important contests last year.
New principal
Meanwhile, the newly appointed principal cornet is Sean Doughty, who is a former Enderby Youth and Senior Band player, who also enjoyed a successful spell as top man at the City of Coventry Band.
He is currently studying at Birmingham Conservatoire and takes over the role from Trevor Hounsome who will now take the assistant principal role to support Sean’s development.
Pleased
A band spokesperson told 4BR: “We’re pleased to have secured three very good players at an important time for the band. All are talented, accomplished players and are fitting in really well.”
The band now boasts no less than ten former Enderby Youth members in its ranks — a fine a recognition of their long term youth development over the years. They are now looking forward to their forthcoming contest appearances at the Woodfarm Contest, Whit Friday and Pershore Festival of Brass.

New MD
The spokesperson added, “With these signings we’ve filled two vacant seats and significantly strengthened our front row, and we are also very pleased with the number and quality of the applicants for the MD’s role — which we hope to announce in the next few weeks.”
