Canada's Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo has announced that the North American Brass Band Summer School will once again form an integral part of their spectacular annual event.
World's largest
The world’s largest indoor Tattoo, features leading musicians and performers from across the globe, with the band taking part for the second successive year under the direction of Dr Robert Childs alongside leading Buffet Group soloists David Childs and Tom Hutchinson.
Incredible experience
Speaking to 4BR: Dr Childs said: “Our 2014 delegates were delighted with their debut appearance at the Tattoo, and with the opportunity to perform and work closely with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama Brass Band.
To now perform with musicians of the calibre of the fantastic Norwegian Kings Guard amongst others will be another incredible experience.”
Over 6000 people
The NABBSS Band will perform in a series of concerts across the city of Halifax, as well as in massed bands for an audience of over 6000 people. The band will play alongside the Massed Band of the Canadian Forces, The Band of His Majesty The King's Guard of Norway, Heeresmusikkorps Ulm of Germany and Hemvärnets Musikkår Eslöv of Sweden.
More than 30 new brass band arrangements have been commissioned by the Tattoo for the NABBSS Band by Arranger in Residence, Major Denis Burton, former Director of Music of the Band of Her Majesty's Grenadier Guards and now Director of Music of the Band of the Royal Welsh in the UK.
Few places open
Dr Childs added: “Following our recent presence at both the Mid Atlantic Brass Band Festival and the NABBA Championships, just a few places for this summer's course now remain.
It’s a fantastic opportunity which I urge any brass player considering attending not to miss out on.”
