The Oxfordshire & District Brass Band Association will hold its 68th Brass Festival this year. The popular contest provides an ideal opportunity for players to show off their slow melody and air-varie playing skills, as well as get involved in duets, quartets, quintets and small ensembles.
Classes
While most entries are from under-19s, organisers also enjoy a strong adult entry each year, and there is even a slow melody class for those adults who have come to playing later in life and have fewer than five years playing experience. Non brass players are also welcome and there is also an under-19 percussion class.
Welcome
A spokesperson told 4BR: “We would love to welcome anyone from a youth or training band, or if you fancy flexing your playing muscles on your own, then why not enter?"
Time, place and entry forms
The Brass Festival will be held on Sunday April 26th at Marlborough School, Woodstock, Oxford, with adjudicators Alwyn Green and Jack Smith.
Entry forms and rules are available for download from: http://www.odbba.org.
