Collins takes permanent role at Poulton

Dave Collins takes the baton on a full time basis with Poulton-le-Fylde Band.

The Poulton-le-Fylde Band has announced the permanent appointment of Dave Collins as their new Musical Director.

Replacement

Dave has been covering for John Wood for the last six months whilst he has been working in Europe. Unfortunately, John’s ongoing commitments have continued, forcing him to resign his role.

Under his baton, Poulton enjoyed a successful three year period, retaining its First Section status and gaining a deserved reputation as an inventive concert provider.

Fine results

A spokesperson told 4BR: “Over the last six months that work has been carried on by Dave, who has been the band’s composer in residence, with a number of fine contest results and innovative projects.

His first official engagement with the band will be a forthcoming concert to celebrate the life of Graham MacPhee, who was a highly respected member of the banding community due to his lifelong commitment to musical education.”

Thanks

They added: “We would also like to thank repiano player Christine Wood, who unfortunately steps down with John, for her wonderful service to the band.

Poulton were very grateful for the support of John and Christine who travelled to play for us one final time at the recent North West Area contest.”
