Former Central Band of the RAF Trombone star Jonathan Pippen will be playing a leading role in an innovative education outreach event today.
He has linked up with the Accent Education Music Hub to present a ‘Brass & Bones’ trombone workshop aimed at providing youngsters with a fun way of helping with their musical progression.
Opportunities
‘Accent’ Music Education Hub, which is led by former Brighouse & Rastrick player Richard Jones, is committed to providing opportunities for pupils in their area, and has been hugely successful with its inventive approach.
The workshop will give the youngsters the chance to play, learn more about and explore their music making abilities with active encouragement to ask questions and work closely with professional musicians in small ensemble groups.

Making the most
The afternoon is rounded off with a concert for families and to show what progress has been made.
Jonathan told 4BR: “These are the type of projects which are proving to be so successful in helping youngsters make the most of what can sometimes be limited opportunities to learn from professional musicians.
It’s a great idea and with the link with Richard it shows that there is a great pool of musical talent that bands can connect with within their community. It’s fun, proactive and a great way for youngsters to learn to love the trombone!”
