Following their recent qualification success at the Yorkshire Regional Championship, Old Silkstone Band has announced the official appointment of Sam Fisher their new MD.
Exciting time
A spokesperson told 4BR: “This is a truly exciting time for the band and we are really looking forward to working with Sam. There’s a great vibe in the bandroom and morale is high after our qualification.”
They added: “In a very short space of time he has transformed us with his musical input, drive and dedication, leading to our second place in the Second Section at Bradford. This was Sam’s first contest outing and what a debut it proved to be.”
Thanks
Meanwhile, Sam added: “I can’t thank the band enough for their hard work and dedication in the build-up to the contest. It was my first outing as a conductor at the Yorkshire Area, or any contest for that matter.
I’m so delighted with the result and proud to be associated with Old Silkstone Band! Given that the band only had a short time to get used to my way of doing things, I am certainly feeling optimistic about the Nationals!”
