2014 British Open and National champion, Black Dyke is set to appear in the heart of Whit Friday country next month ahead of their appearance at the European Brass Band Championship in Freiburg.
Support
It promises to be a sell-out event as the Queensbury band visits Hyde Town Hall in Tameside on Saturday 25th April, in a concert supported by the John Golland Trust, Tameside Radio and local banding entrepreneur, Phil Beck.
It is a welcome return to the area for the first time in a few years, and will be the band's last concert appearance on British soil before they head to Germany to represent England at the premiere brass band contest in the world.
Formal farewell
The concert will also represent a formal farewell and a thank you to Councillor John Sullivan who is retiring this year.
Councillor Sullivan is stepping down from his representative duties, but the former brass player and conductor will remain an avid banding supporter within the local area, especially Whit Friday, whilst he will also continue to present his weekly brass band programme on Tameside Radio every Sunday evening.
