Dobcross youngsters raise funds for charity causes

The brilliant youngsters of Dobcross Youth Band have raised much needed funds for two great charities.

Young players from Dobcross Youth Band have raised £865 to be shared between the Royal British Legion and Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Carolling

The youngsters spent time during their Christmas holidays to play carols around the villages of Saddleworth in order to raise the funds, and with the cash now counted, the band has voted on the two charities they would like to benefit.

Study

Band Secretary, Jennifer Wood, told 4BR: “The children were all really keen that the Royal British Legion should receive some of the money. Lots of them have studied the centenary year at school and understand the importance of supporting our servicemen and their families.”

She added: “Manchester Children’s Hospital was also an obvious choice. Some of our young people have friends that have been treated at the hospital and wanted to show how much they valued the work of the doctors and nurses.”

The fact we all get on so well together and work hard as a team is the reason why we’ve been able to raise this money for our chosen charitiesBand member, Amy

Get on well

As one band member, Amy, told 4BR: “The fact we all get on so well together and work hard as a team is the reason why we’ve been able to raise this money for our chosen charities.

We’re all really proud of what we’ve achieved and would like to thank everyone who donated.”
