Rainford launch March & Hymn contest

The Rainford Band launches a brand new march & hymn tune contest as a great dry run for Whit Friday...

Following their success of their recent Slow Melody competition, the Rainford Band has announced that it will be holding its first March & Hymn Tune Contest on Sunday 24th May. The event will take place over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, just six days before Whit Friday — so the ideal chance for an early run-out. .

Open

With £1500 in prize money, the competition is open to bands from all sections, but will be limited to an entry of 30 with a pre-draw taking place two weeks in advance.

The entry fee will be £30 with numbers in each section strictly limited.

Commencing at 12.45pm, the first band will play at 1.00pm with the results announced at 7.30pm.

Judges

Ian Brownbill will judge the march and hymn tune element with Rainford's MD, Gareth Brindle making the decision on the band that plays the best road march.

Chinnor Silver

September 13 • Required: An Assistant Principal Cornet. A rare opportunity exists to join our Solo cornet bench and fill this crucial seat. We are an ambitious and friendly 1st section band who rehearse in our own bandroom in Chinnor on Wednesday evenings.
