It has been reported in the public domain in regional and local media in the North West and Yorkshire, that Stuart Lingard, the principal cornet of Brighouse & Rastrick Band has been charged with five counts of an abuse of a position of trust (sexual activity with a child aged 13-17).
Remanded on bail
The 38-year-old was arrested at his home in March last year. He appeared before Bury Magistrates Court on Friday, February 13th and was remanded on bail to appear at Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday March 6th.
The alleged offences are said to have taken place in the Rochdale area between 2009 and 2011 while Lingard was working for Rochdale Music Service.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “A man has been charged with sexual offences. Stuart Lingard was charged with five counts of an abuse of a position of trust (sexual activity with a child 13-17 years).
On January 9th, 2014, police received an allegation of historic inappropriate sexual behaviour in the Rochdale area.”
