The reigning Scottish Champion, Co-operative Funeralcare Band, has confirmed to 4BR that they will be led at the forthcoming Scottish and European Brass Band Championships by Allan Withington.

Return

It sees a return to the band for the first time since the Europeans in 2012 for the Bergen based MD, who recently led Stavanger to the Norwegian National title.

Looking forward

Allan told 4BR: “I’m really looking forward to working with the band again at these major contests.

The players have a fantastic work ethic and together we will be doing our utmost to retain the Scottish Championship. It’s also about time a Scottish band put its name on the European trophy too, so an exciting challenge lies ahead for us all.”

Continuity

Band Manager Martin Stack added: “With the European and Scottish contests so close together we felt that we had to have continuity with our Professional MD appointment.

Having worked with Allan during the European Championships in Rotterdam in 2012, we know that he is the ideal choice.”
