The reigning British Open and National Champion will be making a much anticipated return to Leeds Town Hall on Sunday 17th May for their appearance at the annual Black Dyke Festival.
Spotlight features
The highly popular event will once again feature workshop sessions for players — with a special ‘Cornet Spotlight’ led by Richard Marshall, a ‘Tenor Horn Spotlight’ undertaken by Jonathan Bates and a ‘Lower Brass Spotlight’ led by Gary Curtin and Ben Dixon.
The afternoon Gala Concert (which will start at 3.00pm) will feature Black Dyke under the baton of Prof Nicholas Childs, with special guests including the Yorkshire Youth Band, Armthorpe Elmfield, Tewit Youth, Blackley, Delph, Kirton and Trentham Bands.
Raise the roof
That musical extravaganza will see over 200 musicians take to the stage, with the rousing sounds of Respighi's ‘March’ from ‘The Pines of Rome’ and Elgar’s ‘Pomp and Cicumstance’ sure to lift the roof!
Black Dyke’s star soloists, Richard Marshall, Gary Curtin and Katrina Marzella will be featured as will special multi player section features for cornets, horns and all those lower brass players!
Desire to entertain
As Prof Childs told 4BR: “This is always one of the great highlights of our concert year as it gives Black Dyke the wonderful opportunity to work with players and bands who share our desire to entertain.
With what we have on offer this year – that’s going to be something special”
