Richard Evans is to conduct the Greater Manchester Youth Brass Band at the concert ending their spring course this weekend.
Rochdale
The band is made up of players from the nine music services that make up the hub, and will perform alongside Rochdale Borough Youth Brass and Oldham Music Centre Youth Brass Band at Rochdale Town Hall on Sunday 15th February, starting at 6.00pm.
The GMYBB has been in existence for just two years and has already performed in prestigious venues such as Manchester Central Conference Centre and the Bridgewater Hall.
Excellence
A spokesperson told 4BR: “With the already strong tradition of youth brass bands in the region GMYBB will not compete in contests but instead concentrate on excellence on the concert stage.
This challenges members with repertoire beyond the reach of most young brass players, but the speed of learning of the material in the limited rehearsal time makes for a very demanding and fulfilling experience for all concerned.”

No doubts
Richard Milton, Head of Salford Music and Performing Arts Service added: “We are delighted that Richard Evans has taken time out of his busy schedule to once again conduct the band.
He was the guest conductor at our inaugural concert back in 2013 and the young players learnt so much from the experience we had no doubts who to ask this time.”
The band will be joining other Greater Manchester Hub Ensembles at the Bridgewater Hall in June under their regular conductor Mark Peacock.
