Blidworth Welfare Band is certainly enjoying a great start to 2015, with their first ever season in the Championship Section also seeing them already claim a place at the British Open Senior Trophy in Blackpool in May.

First outing

The band’s first top flight competitive putting was at the recent Brass at the Guild Hall event in Preston, where they achieved a very creditable seventh place.

However, with such a high standard of competing bands, it also meant that they secured that all important invitation to Blackpool (above) — and the possibility of being just three steps away from a place at the British Open itself.

Now we are looking forward to the Midlands Area contest and our first appearance at the Spring Festival.”
