Combination Regional test piece preview set for Manchester

Bands from the North West and the Midlands Area will come together to give a free preview of all five set works ahead of the action at Blackpool and Bedworth. And its's free!

A quintet of North West and Midlands bands will provide a free Area preview before the action proper begins at Blackpool and Bedworth next month.

Manchester Metropolitan University

Crewe-based Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West has arranged the free preview evening in the Studentzone at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Cheshire Campus on Saturday 21st February.

Starting at 7.00pm it will feature a performance of each Area set-work thanks to the support of Manchester Metropolitan University.

In action:

All bands will play a warm-up piece of their choice, followed by their section’s test piece:

Championship Section: Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West
First Section: Crewe Brass
Second Section: City of Chester
Third Section: Trentham Brass
Fourth Section: Audley Brass

Real pleasure

Jane Smart, Events Manager for the Co-operative Funeralcare Band North West told 4BR: “The people of Crewe don’t get many chances to see both their local brass bands perform on the same evening, and to be able to share a platform with our good friends and neighbours Crewe Brass and three other bands, will be a real pleasure.”

The event is completely free and there is no need to book. The bar will be open from 6.45pm and the music starts at 7.00pm prompt.

The venue is the Studentzone, Manchester Metropolitan University’s Cheshire Campus, Crewe Green Road, Crewe CW1 5DU.

Bilton Silver Rugby Band

November 22 • Bilton Silver (Rugby) requires a cornet player to join our Championship Section band (Position negotiable). Under MD Brad Turnbull we have a varied programme of events. Rehearsals are held on Monday and Friday at 7-45pm in our own purpose built bandroom.


Besses o'th' Barn Band

November 21 • Under the direction of David W Ashworth, we are making every effort to complete the rebuild of this very famous brass band. We require one kit and one tuned percussionists plus one Back Row Cornet to complete our line up for the North West Area Contest.
