2015 'Double' champions Black Dyke are hoping that they can celebrate their forthcoming 160th birthday with the help of as many former players as possible.
Special concert
The special 160th anniversary concert takes place on the afternoon of the 12th July at Huddersfield Town Hall, and as Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs told 4BR, he is hoping the huge stage will be packed with as many former Queensbury players as possible.
"With such a rich and evocative history of Black Dyke, and the galaxy of fantastic past players who have worn the famous uniform over the decades, we would like to invite as many past members as possible to join us in a special re-union band appearance in the second half of the event."
I couldn't think of a better way for as many great Dyke players to be part of such a memorable occasion, especially as we will be rounding things off with Eric Ball's 'Journey into Freedom'Prof Nicholas Childs
No better way
He added: "I couldn't think of a better way for as many great Dyke players to be part of such a memorable occasion, especially as we will be rounding things off with Eric Ball's 'Journey into Freedom' — a test piece that has such a great link with the band."
The band has been busy trying to contact as many former players as possible, but Dr Childs still thinks there are a few that have been missed.
"We don't want anyone to feel as if they have been forgotten, so if you have played for the band — get in touch. It would be great if we could get everyone on stage."
