The Uppermill Band has announced a number of new signings in preparation for the forthcoming North West Area contest in Blackpool on March 1st.
Experience
The experienced Mark Rodgers joins on soprano cornet following a short break, having previously played on the cornet rank with most of the top section bands in the area and in more recent years with Delph.
Meanwhile, the solo trombone vacancy has been filled by John Armbrister, who returns to the same position he held at Uppermill prior to taking up a career in the military. John is joined on a pro-tem basis by Carol Day who has enjoyed a long and successful tenure with Wardle Anderson Band.
Also returning are Steven Sanders, Gillian Kirkby and Lauren Brundell, on BBb tuba and horns respectively, whilst Roman Galaska has also rejoined to strengthen the euphonium section.

Return to stability
A Band spokesman told 4BR: “After a long period of stability which brought many successes and promotions from Fourth to First Section, we have in recent months seen the departure of several players for various reasons.
This brought about a period of recruitment and rebuilding, but we are now in a position to welcome all our new recruits who bring with them a wealth of experience and playing ability."
Thanks
They added: "At the same time we would like to thank all players who have moved on for their much valued contributions and wish them all well for the future.”
