American trilogy set for Wisconsin

The bands of Milwaukee Festival Brass, Madison Brass and Illinois Brass will joining forces for a Brass at the Border event in Wisconsin.

Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Festival Brass Band has announced that will be holding new ‘multiple band’ event, entitled, ‘Brass at the Border’ at the Rita Performing Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin.

Joining them for what is hoped to become a regular musical initiative be the Madison Brass Band and the Illinois Brass Band.

Common bond

“All three bands share a common bond in our appreciation for the history and tradition of British brass bands,” Music Director Mark A. Taylor told 4BR.

“‘Brass at the Border’ is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring this wonderful music to a wider audience. It also allows us to perform for, and learn from, one another.

As community-based arts organisations, we all experience the same kinds of challenges and rewards, so it’s wonderful to be able to share ideas with one another.

But the big winner for the day will be the audience, who will be treated to performances by three outstanding bands!”
