The ever busy Kevin Holdgate has set about organising a pre-Area contest evening of test piece performances on 8th February at the Marstons Sports and Social Club in Burton upon Trent (DE14 2BG).

At present, three bands (Newhall, Gresley Colliery and Long Eaton Silver) are taking part but Kevin informed 4BR that he is still looking for a Championship and Fourth Section band to compete the line-up.

Kevin told 4BR: “I’ve arranged for Stan Lippeatt to give each band feedback on their performances. Nobody with a month to go before the Area contest is going to be on peak form, but it is always good to get someone else's view on current progress.

Stan is one of the most respected adjudicators around and he will certainly be a critical ear that we can all benefit from.”

Doors will open at 8.00pm, and everyone is invited to come along and listen to the pieces, sample the ambiance, and no doubt sample a few excellent beers from the brewery which is conveniently placed next door!
