Whole lotta Liv at Eccles

Talented young cornet player Liv Appelton joins the ranks of the newly crowned Butlins champions, Eccles Borough.

Eccles Borough

Recently crowned Butlins champion, Eccles Borough, has announced the signing of rising cornet star, Liv Appleton.

The teenager started playing with Old Hall Community Band, and quickly progressed through the cornet section to take her place as principal cornet at 16.

High profile

The last twelve months have seen Liv play in a number of high profile performances with Old Hall Brass, North West Youth Band, Foden’s Youth Band, and with her mentor Iain Culross of Grimethorpe Colliery Band.

She also claimed a podium finish in the 2014 Foden’s Slow Melody competition for her age group.

Appreciate

“Old Hall Brass started my love for banding,” Liv said when asked about the move, “I’ve been with them since I was seven years old and I truly appreciate everything they have done for me in encouraging my progression as a player.

I wish them all the best for the future. I’m looking forward to working with Eccles: It’s a fantastic opportunity to play with such an amazing bunch of musicians at such a promising phase in the band’s history.”

Liv is a wonderful player and we’re sure that this is just the beginning of a long and successful career with usEccles MD, Marieka Gray

Butlins success

Liv joins Eccles after their latest major contesting success at Skegness, and with sights firmly on the Area contest in Blackpool in March.

“I’m so pleased that Liv has agreed to join us,” Eccles MD, Mareika Gray said. “She’s just one of the many excellent players that have signed for the band recently, and we’re thrilled to welcome her into our ranks.

Liv is a wonderful player and we’re sure that this is just the beginning of a long and successful career with us.”
